We are pleased to continue our electronic filing opportunities for clients this year.

Your return is not complete and not filed until we receive your signed ELF acknowledgement from you!

Ø   Electronic filing is a service that we provide for our clients - although we do not charge an additional fee for doing so, some additional time may be incurred to process the electronic file.

Ø   The IRS and the VA Department of Taxation will be requiring taxpayers to file electronically in a few years and are requesting taxpayers file electronically now. Filing electronically results in more efficient and accurate processing.

Ø   Filing electronically reduces government costs paid by you, the taxpayer.

Ø  Almost all clients are eligible to file electronically - regardless of the complexity of the return or whether they receive a refund.

Ø   If you have a balance due - the amount may be paid in one of three ways

Direct draft of your bank account
Credit card (Payment by credit card will increase the balance due by approximately 2.5 percent because the IRS charges a fee for this service.)
Check

Ø  If you have an overpayment - the refund may be sent to you as a check or may be directly deposited to your bank account.

What do I need to do to electronically file?

Ø   Advise your preparer that you wish to file electronically at the BEGINNING of your return preparation meeting.

Ø   If you have a balance due - advise how you would like to pay.

Ø   If you have a refund - advise how you would like to receive it. If you choose direct deposit, provide a copy of check (not a deposit slip) - this must be a joint account if you are filing a joint return.

Ø  Verify the dates of birth and social security numbers for you, your spouse and your dependents.
